Penguins

PENGUINS

By: Amanda

Penguins are a group of flightless, aquatic birds that live mostly in the southern hemisphere, especially Antarctica. Penguins eat krill, fish and squid. Emperor penguins are the largest living penguins, but the smallest penguin is the Little Blue Penguin. There are seventeen species of endangered penguins, that means that they cannot be killed and eaten, and there eggs may not be collected. In the water, some penguin predators include the leopard seal, the fur seal, sea lions, sharks or killer whales. When they are on land, their predators include foxes, snakes, and other predators like feral dogs, cats and stoats eat the eggs and chicks of some penguin species, including the yellow eyed and Galapagos penguins.
